WEET Shares What is a Fast Rectifier

We are WEE, We Enhance Efficiency

What is a Fast Rectifier? Defination of a Fast Rectifier.

Fast Recovery Diode is a semiconductor device which possesses short reverse recovery time, very low switching losses and low noise turn-off switching for rectification purpose at high frequency. Rectification is the most popular use for diodes. Rectifiers have many uses and are often found serving as components of high-voltage direct current power transmission systems and DC power supplies. Fast rectifiers convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). Fast diodes are optimized to accept high dynamic stress (fast transition from conducting to blocking state). However, they generally have higher conduction losses than rectifier diodes. For every switch family (GTO, IGCT and IGBT), we offer fast diodes that are optimized for the switch application. They only allow one-way flow of electrons.
Most stronge Fast Recovery Diode in WEET are 1F7,BA157,FR106,1N4935,FR207,FR307,BY397,FR606.

WEET Shares What is a Schottky Barrier Diode

We are WEE, We Enhance Efficiency

What is a Schottky Barrier Diode? Defination of a Schottky Barrier Rectifiers

The Schottky diode, named after its inventor, also known as Schottky barrier diode or hot-carrier diode, is a semiconductor diode formed by the junction of a semiconductor with a metal. Schottky barrier diode not only  have many applications in today's high tech electronics scene, but also it is one of the oldest semiconductor devices in existence.

It has a low forward voltage drop, a switching speeds that approach zero time and is an electronics component that is widely used in RF applications as a mixer or detector. Also used in power applications as a rectifier, again because of its low forward voltage drop, it lowers the levels of power loss, compared to ordinary PN junction diodes.

The reverse recovery time of Schottky diodes provides extremely fast recovery characteristics. What little reverse recovery time they exhibit is dictated by their capacitance instead of minority carrier recombination such as in conventional PN junction rectifiers. This offers very little reverse current overshoot when switching the Schottky from a forward conducting mode to a reverse blocking state.

Most stronge Schottky Barrier Rectifiers in WEE are SMA Schottky Barrier Rectifier SS12-SS110, SMB Schottky Barrier Rectifier SS32-SS310, SMC Schottky Barrier Rectifier SS52-SS510.

WEET: Global Chip Sales Decline In 2009

We are WEE, We Enhance Efficiency

Worldwide semiconductor sales in 2009 were $226.3 billion, a decline of 9 percent from 2008 when sales were $248.6 billion. December sales were $22.4 billion, an increase of 29 percent from December 2008, when sales were $17.4 billion. December sales declined by 1.2 percent from November when sales were $22.7 billion. All monthly sales numbers represent a three-month moving average.

2009 turned out to be a better year for the global semiconductor industry than expected. A strong focus on inventories throughout the supply chain mitigated the impact of the worldwide economic downturn and positioned the industry for growth as the global economy recovers.

China and India, two key emerging markets, are also driving demand. In addition to purchasing consumer items such as handsets and computers, both regions are continuing to invest in wired and wireless infrastructure. These investments in infrastructure create demand for a broad range of semiconductor products.

WEET: Global Semiconductor Sales Fell by 2.8 Percent in 2008

We are WEE, We Enhance Efficiency

Global sales of semiconductors were severely impacted by the world-wide economic turmoil in 2008 resulting in the first year-on-year drop in sales since 2001.

Total sales for 2008 were $248.6 billion compared to $255.6 billion in 2007, a decrease of 2.8 percent. Sales fell from $22.3 billion in December 2007 to $17.4 billion in December 2008, a decline of 22 percent. December sales declined by 16.6 percent from November 2008 when sales were $20.9 billion.

The global economic recession severely dampened semiconductor sales in the fourth quarter of 2008, historically a strong quarter for the industry. Weakening demand for the major drivers of semiconductor sales--including automotive products, personal computers, cell phones, and corporate information technology products – resulted in a sharp drop in industry sales that affected nearly all product lines. Once again, the steepest revenue declines were in the memory sector where price pressure more than offset significant growth in total bit shipments.
