WEET Tells the Differences between Diode Rectifiers and Bridge Rectifiers
1、 Different structures
The diode rectifier structure is simple and consists of two different types of semiconductor materials, P-type and N-type. The bridge rectifier connects four diodes in series to form a whole. There are also two different semiconductor materials, P-type and N-type, inside the bridge rectifier, but they are connected together differently to form a four way rectifier circuit.
2、 Different functions
Diode rectifiers have a single conductivity and can only conduct electricity during forward bias, while blocking the passage of current during reverse bias. Its main function is to act as a rectifier, converting AC signals into DC electrical signals for subsequent circuit use.
The bridge rectifier can also achieve unidirectional current conduction, but due to the internal composition of four diodes, it can achieve a more complete rectifier circuit. Its main function is to rectify the AC signal into a complete sine wave, while also rectifying negative signals into positive values.
3、 Different application fields
Due to the fact that diode rectifiers can only perform half wave rectification conversion, their application range is relatively narrow, mainly used in low-power circuits, such as small power supplies. The bridge rectifier can achieve full wave rectification, so its application fields are more extensive and can be applied in high-power circuits, such as electronic power supplies and other fields that require high current.
4、 Different stability
There is only one PN junction inside the diode rectifier, so it is prone to failure in environments such as high temperature, high voltage, and high frequency. The bridge rectifier is composed of multiple diodes as a whole, so its stability is higher compared to a single diode.
In summary, although diode rectifiers and bridge rectifiers are commonly used components in circuits, there are significant differences in structure, function, application, and stability. When selecting circuit components, specific types of components need to be selected according to actual needs.

1、 What type of diode is LL4148?
LL4148 is a small single switch diode that, like most diodes, only allows current to flow in one direction. LL4148 is a silicon epitaxial planar diode with cathode strip identification, using a glass encapsulated version.
LL4148 has high conductivity and reliability, characterized by a fast recovery time of 8ns to 4ns only at a forward current of 300mA. Therefore, LL4148 diodes are used for fast switching.

Method for detecting the quality of diodes:
1. Detection of ordinary diodes: (including detector diodes, rectifier diodes, damping diodes, switching diodes, and freewheeling diodes) is a semiconductor device composed of a PN structure with unidirectional conductivity characteristics. By using a multimeter to detect its forward and reverse resistance values, the electrode of the diode can be identified, and it can also be estimated whether the diode is damaged.

Marking and Identification of SMD/chip diodes
1. SMD diode model marking and polarity identification
The model of SMD diode is marked with letters, numerical codes or letter + numerical code marking method and color (code) marking method.
For example, the electrical parameters of the printed word "A3" are as follows: PD=0.15W; IF=0.1A; VB=80V; Trr=4ns. In the color labeling method, the model is mainly found by the color marked on the negative side, and then the parameter value is found by the model.
SMD diode polarity identification method: glass tubular SMD diode, the red end is the positive electrode, the black end is the negative electrode; the rectangular SMD diode, the one end with the white horizontal line is the negative electrode.
2. SMD diode quality measurement
A normal SMD diode, measured on the circuit, has a small forward resistance and a large reverse resistance, and there is a significant difference in resistance between the two. Disconnect the circuit, if measured with a pointer multimeter, the forward resistance is about 3kΩ, and the reverse resistance is hundreds of kiloohms or infinity; The voltage drop is infinite.
